Volvo's flagship sedan,
the new 2004 2005 Volvo S80 has an inline 6-cyl engine, the 2.9 with 194 hp,
the others with a turbocharger and 268 hp. A 4-speed automatic is the only
transmission; the T6s's unit has a manual shift gate. T6 and Volvo S80 Elite
come with 17-inch wheels, which are optional for the 2.9 in place of 16s.
Standard features include antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, traction control, front
side airbags, and curtain side airbags. We have been hard at work preparing the
2004 2005 Volvo S80 review to provide the latest accessory information and
Volvo S80 picture to the interested reader.
A new 2004 2005 Volvo S80
navigation system is available on all models. The Elite's rear seat is divided
by a center console, heated, and angled to provide 2 inches more leg room. It
accommodates two passengers and includes a power sunshade, DVD video and TV
tuner, and a refrigerated compartment. Volvo's S80 On-Call Plus assistance
system is new for 2004 2005. It's optional on the 2004 2005 Volvo S80 2.9 and
standard on other S80 models. Rain-sensing wipers are a new option.
The base 2004 2005 Volvo
S80 2.9 is equipped with a 2.9-liter inline six-cylinder engine that generates
a respectable 197 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. For the T6 models,
Volvo takes the new 2.9's engine and bolts on two small turbochargers. Even
with slightly less displacement (2.8 liters), the T6's engine belts out 268
horsepower at 5,400 rpm and a prodigious 280 lb-ft of torque at 2,000 rpm. Both
2004 2005 Volvo S80 engines are mated to four-speed automatic transmissions.
Additionally, the T6 provides a Geartronic feature that allows for manual
shifting if the driver desires. An integral part of the 2004 2005 Volvo s80
review picture accessory section is the safety feature.
On the 2004 2005 Volvo
S80, stability and traction control system is standard. Other active safety
features include Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and emergency brake
assistance. As with all Volvos, safety is paramount; every S80 is replete with
side airbags for front passengers, head curtain airbags for front and rear
passengers, whiplash-reducing headrests and ISO-FIX child-seat attachment
points. The Volvo S80 receives perfect marks in all NHTSA crash tests, as well
as an overall "Good" score in IIHS frontal offset tests.
The four-passenger 2004 2005 Volvo S80 T6 Executive or five-passenger T6 Elite
provide a normal and an extended wheelbase. These 2004 2005 Volvo S80 models
add two extra inches of legroom by pushing the rear seat farther back into the
rear deck and by removing the folding-seat mechanism. Volvo also feature wider
rear door openings, heated rear seats, extra padding in the rear seatback and
bottom cushion, an electric rear-window sun shade, a small refrigerator and a
DVD player connected to a video screen mounted in the rear console; a wireless
fax/copier is optional.
